Our newest permitted superboards atop an historic bank building in an affluent neighbourhood of Toronto (Yonge Street north of Lawrence Avenue) pay homage to the famous 1932 photo by Charles Ebbets titled 'Lunch Atop A Skyscraper' (New York construction workers having lunch on a crossbeam). The billboards feature 16 permanent life-size sculptures by artist Sergio Furnari, based on the men in the photo. The statues overlook two 12' x 32' illuminated sign faces.
This is the first signage of its kind in Canada and will no doubt become an iconic landmark for locals, tourists and history buffs alike. Not only do the statues capture the eyes of vehicular/pedestrian traffic, but advertisers now have the ability to tie the sculptures into relevant creative.Featured in: Media in Canada, AdNews , Sign Media Canada, Canadian Business, Now Magazine, the Torontoist etc.
